The main scope of scientific and educational activities of the laboratory is related with the general problems of radiophysics, the effects of light propagation in optical fibers, measurement devices and sensor systems based on fiber-optic technologies.

Fiber Optics Laboratory was founded at the Radio Physics Department
in 1985 on the initiative of Professor **Vladimir Michaelovich Nikolaev**. The poster with a brief story about the life and work of Professor V.M. Nikolaev can be downloaded here (jpeg,8MB)
